
Orchard Gardens K-8 Pilot School (OGPS) is a Boston Public School located in Roxbury, Massachusetts. As a K-8 school, OGPS serves over 800 students in three distinct academies. Bethune Academy is our primary education academy that is comprised of grades K0-2. Shabazz Academy serves our students in upper elementary school in grades 3-5. Dubois Academy is our middle school academy, consisting of grades 6-8.
OGPS is a designated “Turnaround” school that has the benefit of added time for our students to learn and grow. The school day begins at 7:10 AM and, for grades K-5, ends at 2:30 PM. Our 6th and 7th grade students attend mandatory Citizen Schools programming Monday through Thursday until 5:15 PM. Many of our 8th graders also attend extended day programming until 5:15 PM via either Citizen Schools’ 8th Grade Academy or through City Year’s “Be the Change” program. K – 5 students can participate in extended learning City Year or BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life) which dismiss at 5:15 PM Monday through Thursday. Every Friday, dismissal for all students is 2:30 PM.
